Hello! My name is Alexandria Chingman. My spirit name is Leading Day Woman. I am Beaver Clan, and I am from Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
I’m a graphic designer and a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. My work is deeply influenced by my culture, and I thoroughly enjoy storytelling in various art forms. I have been involved in creating art since childhood, I learned traditional craft making from my grandmother attending craft classes on the Reservation. Today, I travel to Pow Wows as an art vendor, connecting with Indigenous communities and sharing my stories through illustration.
Design, to me, is more than just aesthetics; it is a powerful tool for connection and expression while creating something functional and meaningful. When I’m not designing, I find inspiration in growing food and flowers in my backyard garden; a hobby that grounds me in nature and reminds me of the importance of patience, growth, and care. Many of the same values I carry into every project.
